ICR II Understeer Problem - PLEASE HELP

by o.. » Tue, 28 Nov 1995 04:00:00

I have been a racing Sim fan from the beginning.  I just bought ICR2
this weekend.  Here is my problem.  Massive understeer, even on the
beginner settings in the game.  Every track, every corner.  Totally
frustrating.  Lap times even in Michigan are only 220mph avg, and that
is almost scraping the walls in turns two and four.

Does anyone else have this problem ?  I am running a P5-133 with
Matrox Mill card, 16MB Ram, 6x CD-ROM.  Unfortunately, I am runnning
the game on a keyboard.  Is that the problem ?  ICR I worked fine this
way.  Have tried linear and non-linear steering, found that linear
helps a little.  Still not enough to even be remotely competitive
racing for last place !

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  I am sending my
computer back to Gateway next week, so I will not be buying a T1 or
joystick.  I want to play this game before my computer is gone.

Everything is average until you play GPF1 2

Both NASCAR and ICR2 and completely unplayable with the keyboard IMHO.

Papyrus really should work on this for their next sim. I just hope F1GP2
is as playable with the keyboard as the original.

(ever tried using a joystick or a steering/peadl combo on a plane ?)

first off, you need to get yourself a good joystick or the steering wheel.
If your computer has those kind of specs, it should be no problem for you
to acquire one.

Second off,    try the ace or qual setup at michigan.  after lifting the
first couple laps while my tires warmed up, i easily hit 237.  this is
with a reynard honda ad firestone tires.  hope this helps

I use a joystick and can run 238+ at Michigan, but as I said in an earlier
post, even if I dial in a ton of understeer at Long Beach, after 5 or 6
laps, I get HUGE oversteer going down Shoreline.
Can anyone help me - Please.

They aren't supposed to be playable with the keyboard!!  Papyrus games
are designed for an ANALOG joystick or steering device.  Digital
joysticks have the same effect as the keyboard.  You want the use the
keyboard PLAY WORLD CIRCUIT!

I agree with you there William, 100%!!!
But I would ditch the joystick also, and get a good yoke, or wheel.!!
