Where's the other Nascar2002 track?

I heard that there was supposed to be a 3 mile fantasy oval track to run
with no restrictor plates. So where is it?

If it's in the game, it's in the game (c)

Sorry, couldn't resist (doh, EA's gonna sue me now). I think it's called the
Coca Cola Super Speedway.

Because oval tracks (especially fantasy ones where they can make up the
surroundings) are MUCH easier to make than road courses. And because they
look at the server logs and realize that the majority of online racing
happens at Daytona and Talladega (I'm guessing - I've never run N4 online,
or even much offline).

Nascar = oval, dat's da fax. Road courses are the anomoly, and only in the
season for historical reasons. Most Nascar teams would probably jump for joy
if Watkins Glen and Sears Point were removed from the calendar.

Seriously? I'd think that would be the only 2 races the drivers would
look forward to..
And indeed, I was very surprised when I only saw ovals being run
online.. I'd thought that at least us Europeans would choose for some
right turns too :-/

NASCAR is not about tracks, it is all about driver against driver.  As
opposed to F1 which is all about pit crew against pit crew, CART which
is all about driver against management, IRL which is all about Sarah
Fisher against the retaining wall, ......

Well look at it from the teams' perspective. They race something like 40
times a year, 2 of which are on road courses. For those road courses they
have to 1) have a completely different set of cars, 2) travel relatively far
(compared to the Southern ovals), 3) have a completely different setup, and
4) have one of the few drivers who hasn't spent his entire life since he was
10 racing ovals.

It's expensive, and many of the teams know they don't have a CHANCE of
getting any decent points. On an oval, ANYBODY can win given the right
circumstances (yellow at the right time, big crash, whatever).

I think the only teams that look forward to the road courses are the ones
who aren't in the points race who hire road-course specialists for these
races (Ron Fellows for example). The sponsors probably pay them pretty well
for those two races, because their car will be near the front instead of
many laps down.

p.s. I'm guessing that the Europeans who like road courses are doing the
same thing as us North Americans: driving GPL.

Actually, not necessarily.  Most of them like going to the road courses,
some just for the "atmosphere" of the area.  Different sets of cars isn't a
big deal; they have them for SS, and short tracks anyway.  The distance
isn't either, as they go near those same courses for oval races anyway, let
alone Michigan i.e.

Rusty Wallace, Ricky Rudd, Gordon, Stewart, Andretti, and others really
like them.  Some don't like every oval either, no big deal.  Ken Schrader
hates Martinsville.

The races at Riverside produced some great races with Tim Richmond,
Darrell Waltrip, and others.  In fact, that was the only time there was some
serious whining about road courses, and that was because of the
travel(before every team was using planes, and they drove there), and at
that time, it was the only circuit out west.

Actually, while many fans wish they'd go away, the drivers usually have
feel the other way about them.

And there ya go, two completely opposite opinions. Take yer pick ;)

I have no factual basis for my opinion, just guessing. If I was running a
Nascar team I would see the road courses as a waste of resources. But since
that is never gonna happen, it's a moot point...

Dont know why people always resort to nascar isnt racing cos its just
ovals. If you dont like it nobody else really cares, people like it
not because the tracks are complex but because the racing stategies
are complex, and racing at 200mph a few mm away from 2 other drivers
around a turn is exciting for some people. If you feel like posting
***that points out the obvious, do some posts about how truck racing
is ***because they only go 160kph and weigh too much, or old F1 cars
are ***because they handle bad and dont have any wings.... get over
it guys

I'm not complaining about the ovals or oval racing.
I like the 2 roadtracks in N4 very much, while I don't really like the
ovals and the strategy involved, just not my type of racing.
I simply wished there would be some more roadtracks for N4.
Let's hope Noonans converter works with 2002.. anyone tried that yet?

How did you get all that venom from what Rob posted?  Are we reading the same
post?  Someone asked a question, and he answered it.  Besides, Rob never even
SAID he didn't like NASCAR racing...
Geez, what's YOUR issue?

Silverstone would rock in NR2002. I never have gotten the hang of Sears
Point, but I love running the Glen, and Silverstone would bee cool to. Gonna
have to try copying over Silverstone from N4 into NR2002. I don't hold much
hope for it working since I already tried Chicagoland from NR2002 into N4.
