I know that most of the posts in here are about F1GP, indycar, nascar
etc. but is there anyone that loves playing Sega Rally in the arcade??
I know I do it has to be the best game around. What is everybodies
fastest times for the championship?? Mine is about 3:24 something. I
know it can be done faster because I have seen high scores of 3:18. I
was just wondering how on earth these people get these times. Eg. how
do you get around corners, which car, is there any difference in the
cars. I always use the Celica which I think is quicker on the straights
than the Lancia but not as easy to get around the corners. Anybody with

I have to agree with you by saying that SEGA RALLY is the best arcade
driving game.  I see why Rally drivers are considered to be the best race
car drivers.  They need to have excellent control on both o and off-road
surfaces.  Amazingly the car feels like the real thing.  Do you think SEGA
RALLY is going to come out on PC?  If it does, I'll buy it
immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right on. Its amazing how real it feels. Especcially on asphalt
when the body rolls and the tyres skip. When I get done with a session of
rally I of course must drive home. I rip my 94 Probe GT around the tight
turns and chicanes exiting the ramps at the Mall of America and I just
say WOW! It feels just like the freakin game. Pretty jazzy

Me too !,
I'm wait for a long time a very good rally simulation game. It's true that
SEGA RALLY is a "must" but I only have a PC. Sometimes ago I heard that there
was a project to design a 3D video card able to run SEGA playstation games
under windows 95 ? Has someone more information on this ?
Are there others (good enough) rally games for PC ? The last I tried was RAC
Rally : really unplayable :-((.

It's a totally cool rally sim around a mountainside road track.

Sega Rally is currently being converted to pc win 95 along with daytona
according to information at the sega home page (already converted sonicCD
from the MegaCD to PC). Apparently they are undertaking a massive arcade
to win 95 conversion project to convert some big titles. Check out their
home page if you don't belive me(once your there search for pc news or
something similar). It sound's like bullshit to me but it's on there.

UNbelievable.

See ya, Mex

I must say the game does not belong in the same realism league as INDYCAR
or NASCAR.  It belongs with more light Ridge Racer or Rage Racer.  You ever
notice no matter how hard you try you can't SPIN the car?!?  Or how ON/OFF
the acceleration is?  Sure, the graphics are spectacular, and the car does
behave the right way is several SPECIFIC situations, but I still consider
it an arcade GAME, not simulator.  The closest to a sim in the arcade was
Race Drivin', the next being the current INDY 500.  Daytona is close, but
sufers from the same faults as Sega Rally.

Just an opinion, but I think it's right (If that makes sense)

Just out of curiosity, what would you guys consider to be
essential features in a rally game that would make it a realistic sim as
opposed to more of an arcade game?

I have spun in the Hairpin a few times. Sorry to burst that bubble. But

Have you seen a PC product called Network G Rally?  Published by
Europress, I think.  Box says it's got 24 stages, and you can drive "a
choice" of cars .... but that's about it.

The shop won't let me look inside the shrink-wrap, and have an awful
feeling that it's really an arcade game without the good bits of Sega
Rally.

Has anyone actually tried playing this?

for one, gradual transistions as situation dictates like in real life.
More penalty for damage, perhaps in a different selectable mode.  Sega
rally was close in some parts, miles off in car handling.

Hmm... that's interesting. I haven't really played Sega Rally, except
for at E3, and it wasn't too bad. I found that I didn't like how limited it
was - relatively flat tracks, and borders that are much too restrictive. Do
you think that a game that was more 'liberal' in track design ability and
non-restrictive borders would be good or bad for a decent driving?
