I have played and enjoyed loads of racing games, F1GP was/is great,
Nascar is a blast, NFS was fun to slide about a bit, but Rally is stonkingly good.
The concentration required to hammer the cars around extremely slidy tracks,
constant counter steering on edge of traction is fantastic. Every time there is the
challenge to shave a few 10ths of seconds of the laps.
I was concerned that the joypad was not ideal, but once you put the game on a big TV
you feel the slides, jumps and corners so much that your body is moveing about so
much it feel like you have a steering wheel.
I am not trying to start a PC/console war, but this game is fantastic.
The ability to mess with the tyres and suspension and handling on the cars is great.
The difference between the Delta and the Celica is very noticable too.
The game play is excellent, the replays afterwards watching the cars slide around
corners, dust flying up, suspension rolling, and the front wheels counter steering
is very exhilerating, the music is quite neat too.
Regardless of the flashy graphics, the 'feel' of this game is the most important
thing. I think anyone half interested in racing sims should atleast give this
a few goes, its a bit of an eye opener. The only thing missing is a real championship,
but the time challenges, and trying to finish the arcade championship part of the game
make this game really last.
Anyone else out there enjoying the game as much as me?
Cheers,
Ian
