F1RS sound problem

F1RS sound problem

by Harald Antonse » Wed, 20 May 1998 04:00:00

Hi all,

Just got the sim, and I love it. With patch 1.09 everything looks real
good. However, I have one small problem. When running in a race, I have
a problem hearing the revs of my own car over the other cars in the
race. The volume of the other cars are too high. Is there a fix for this
problem? BTW, I have an old SoundBlaster AWE32 sound card.

F1RS sound problem

A very, very simple fix, young Harald.

Go into the F1RS directory and you will find a folder called CPA, then
another called DLL.
Open up DLL and you'll see an INI file called snd_cpa.ini.

Open that file in Wordpad and amend the following lines....
SXD_DIST_SATUR=5
SXD_DIST_FADE=75

To read...........
SXD_DIST_SATUR=1
SXD_DIST_FADE=11

Try that. if you don't like it, simply increase the SATUR=1 to a value
up to 9say) 5 maximum and the FADE=11 to a value of 15 maximum.
DO NOT REDUCE either value below 1 and 11, otherwise you won't hear you
own engine!! :-)

Have fun!
