When your sitting still at the start of the pace lap and you blip the throttle does you wheel (on screen), turn to the right ?.

Yeah... but it does so even if you hold your PC wheel in place. Which is
rather odd, I think, but seeing as everything works normal once you get
going I've never thought much of it.
