Yes it does that is how most leagues handle race days. I know I couldn't run
my league without it.

More or less, yes.  But it does not have a Un*x-like daemon mode (i.e. where
the program is launched as a background task that uses no graphics, etc.).

You launch GPL as a dedicated server by putting stuff into core.ini and
server.ini (and/or putting stuff on the command line).  See the
readme11.txt, and samples of these .ini files that came with the patch
(core.ini.sample, and server.ini.sample).

WinVROC also has facilities for setting up a dedicated server.

Go to http://www.vroc.net/ and get the VROC software. That's all you
need to link to all the GPL races going on.

I am the author of DeMONS (a front-end dedicated server scheduler for
N3/NL).  Does anybody feel the need to have a GPL version of this
program, or does VROC handle everything you guys need?

never heard of this DeMONS place.  Because there are so few GPL
drivers, there wouldn't be any kind of a need for another application.
The only thing you would do is splitting what little we have now in to
two groups.  Then probably both applications would end up like ghost
towns.  Besides, When the WSC and others come out shortly, WinVROC for
GPL will probably no longer exist.

Just my opinion.

I surely hope not!!
At some times it's really quiet at Vroc, and that sucks..... I surely hope
people will stay with GPL even when WSC and GP3 come out, even when
assuming these games deliver what they promise.

None of the new sims can replace GPL - they don't simulate '67 GP cars
or do they ? The only sim that could have been competition for GPL would
be Spirit of Speed, but.... :)

Yes, there are people out there who do not race GPL DESPITE the fact
that it simulates '67 GP cars, but actually BECAUSE of this fact. I
think those will stay with GPL for a long time.

What I meant by that is.. every time there's a new sim on the market,
GSB/WV emptied out some.  If WSC does become what the hype says it will,
I think that GPL will be run by only those that are dedicated to GPL
type of cars and everyone else will move to WSC.

I for one absolutely love the F3 cars in GPL.  Right now, because of
that, I'll say that I'll be driving GPL more then any other sim (when
WSC comes out).  However, If I get just as much enjoyment out of WSC as
I have with GPL, Then GPL will start to collect dust.

When the oval converter demo came out, GSB was hopping with users. as
soon as the newness wore off, GSB went back to what it was before.  Then
when Brands came out, it did the same thing.  Then when the full oval
converter came out, again, GSB was hopping with users, now it's back to
where it was before.  I think that if WSC (or any other sim) doesn't
meat or exceed GPL, Then GSB will do the same again.. User list will die
out, then come back to what it was when people realize that the new
sim(s) aren't what they were hoping for.  But if the new sim(s) exceed
GPL, Then GSB/WV will have, at the very most, 1/2 the users it does now.

*side note* I'll keep racing in my GPL leagues as long as there are
people there to race against.  I'm first in points now in two of three
trophies in one league and don't want to loose the chance of not
finishing the season out because of a new sim:)

*second note*  If GSB/WV were to incorporate the new sims, The GSB/WV
will be twice as big.

just my opinions though,
Mike

Now this is a good idea! A common place to play all the good sims. And there
is nothing in the VROC name that exclude anything but GPL.
