GPL: Replay off?

If you got a core.ini file just add,

[ Replay ]
replayMemoryOverride = 50000                    ; replaybuffersize in KB

well, change the number to a significantly smaller one and that should
do the trick. I guess i like watching the race after i finish. Oh, for
some reason you don't have the file just open notepad, insert the lines
and make sure its saved as core.ini in the gpl directory.

I would say the replay cannot be stopped entirely so your frame rate
will only be affected if you were running out of RAM.  To increase FPS,
turn off details, use the online grids (1x1) and set mirrors to draw
every 2nd or 3rd frame.

Don't quote me but wouldn't making the replay buffer smaller make the
HDD start activating and storing more often?  If so, that'll play havoc with
frequent frame stutters.  If I'm right, then it would be better to make the
buffer larger.  As far as frame rates being bad, I don't think the buffer
does anything there other then the mentioned occasional stutter when it's
sending from ram to disk.

don't quote me though!

You want the replay buffer small enough to prevent swapping to the disk.
The only time the replay buffer should be saving to disk is when you ask
for it after a race. 2MB is largest default replay buffer size and
should be fine on the smallest of configurations. You can make it even
smaller if required, but don't go larger if you're having speed issues.

Actually, if you are desparate for FPS, then every 9th frame is fairly
servicable, too.  That's what I run.  It's jerky, but it provides the
information in a sufficiently timely manner.

Sorry, I'm using George Smiley's Glide patch.  Didn't realize there
were other ways to implement that.  I really should off this Voodoo2
someday...
