It would need the transfer of everyone's carMIPs at the beginning of every
race, bat that's not that large an amount of data. You could even
automatically chache some drivers that you see often (say, like 30 cars).
For the rest, it would only have to temporarily replace the Fer12.mip with
the personal car of the driver that gets #12.

This way, you can much easier distuinguish the drivers. The startinggrid
would look very cool.

Any opnions about whether this would be any good, and how difficult it
would be?

Brillant idea,I would suggest leagues could start this for their teams.

It'd be difficult to do in GPL, because the cars are redundantly stored with
their #.  So you would need to know what # someone was racing with, put the
personal car of that # in everyone's directory (overwriting what was there)
and then you'd be able to race one race.  Next race, everything would be
different.
