Well if they get the predicted 1000 entrants for the superspeedway
competition, all paying $10 per race per round, they'll collect just
over $20,500 in entry fees and only pay out $15,000 in prize money.
Sounds like a nice little earner. Of course, if they DON'T get 1000
people and still have to pay out the prize money, they're on a right loser!

Y'know, I deleted it without even reading it.  The title alone screamed
"Spam!"...

I'm with you EP, I don't read this type of post until some other poor soul
replies to it, then I read his reply instead. Never know what kind of trojan
might be embedded in the original.

Problem is, what's to make them pay anything or even be around next week ?
I.e., maybe it'll be a little TO close to actual racing, if you follow<G>

Ding!! Idea!!

We each put up $1 for Andre or Achim or some other quick guy to race and if
he wins we split half the money between us. $1 layout for a possible $250
return on a one in thousand chance... that's better odds than the lottery.

Way to many problems with online racing to bring money into it. Can you
imagine leading the last lap only to get the "error on network device" or
some warping lapper taking you out?

It can be done as long as you trust whoever's running it if they ask for
money. Ubi Soft had a $10,000 POD tournament five years ago which I was in
and it worked out great. The winner got the money and Ubi also gave away
video cards and some other prizes. MS and Tri gave away a pick up truck with
a MTM2 tourney, and Jeep is giving away a truck with Evo 2.

Everyone just has to accept the fact that they may be very unlucky if
somehting happens like they lose their internet connection.

Sounds similar to real racing to me - mechanical failure on the last lap or
being taken out by a backmarker - it happens & its for money...
