I agree 100%.  Mine has been flawless so far, and I have over 30 games
alone (about 6 gigs worth) on my system.

I run it under both W95 and W98.

Now, the Diamond Stealth II G460 I had before this, THAT is another
story...

Yes, but you simply said 3D.  You didn't get specific :)

And, the latest version, Nascar Racing 1999, has a Win executable that
does not support DirectX.

We agree that the market, right or wrong, is moving towards DirectX
based 3D, though :)

opengl32.dll is dated 1999 not the one that came with Win 95. I ran the
dx61 diagnostics program and it crashed so I figure there's something
wrong softare wise somewhere (although the machine was only built three
weeks ago). I'll going to trash and reinstall everything in the hope it
might fix it. More tomorrow if I manage to get back online

Forget about Voodoo3 and TNT 2.

Voodoo3, not so many 3d render mode capabilities
TNT 2 might have a control lag just as TNT 1.

Go for some savage stuff or something...

TNT has no control lag. Learn to configure your system,
Damnit!

I wouldn't recommend an unreleased S3 product to my worst enemy.  That
company has a long way to go insofar as redeeming themselves in my eyes.

He might've been refering to all of those OpenGL texture load hitches that
are so well known.  Who knows. . . .  You know, even though the V2 is
PCI-based and doesn't support AGP and sidebanding it still loads textures 4
times faster than a TnT in OpenGL games.

Typical Reynolds exaggeration: "all those load hitches that are so well
known". I know of only one 3D engine which is having trouble, Dynamix's
Tribes/Starsiege. Hmmm, well there's Unreal too but the hitches are
pretty much gone with the proper settings.

Comparing OpenGL and Glide isn't exactly valid.

> TNT 2 might have a control lag just as TNT 1.

TNT has no general control lag. This is a lie. I've no control lag,
my friends with TNT boards have no control lag. The lag you have
described in earlier postings is a problem of your configuration not
of the TNT.
Please keep distance from that statement.

Funny....my V2 is the card that has pauses, not my TNT.

I made as many S3 "decelerator" jokes as anybody over the past couple of
years, but then I bought a $59 A-Trend Savage SGRAM card on impulse a few
months back. It has retired my 12-meg V2 except for Glide and made a
believer out of me with stable drivers, better image quality, more features
and greater customizing options. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Savage 4
to a friend, any more than you would hesitate to recommend a V3 to one of
yours.
Personally, I think my friend would get the better deal ;>)

Pauses? no a constant control lag. All my mouse/keyboard
inputs are treated by the game engine 1/2 second after they
happen! it's like they are "queued" in the I/O buffer and then
released to the gameplay. The lag is 1/2 second playing
voodoo2 games and software mode but when using the TNT
card the lag is longer the more resolution I set up and/or the
more 3d effects I turn on (dithering and especally antialiasing)!

I have ripped everything from my computer and tested every
OS/setup you could imagine (maybe not THAT many:) but no
go. Not even a different result, the exact same.

Now I'll try my friends vga card (a little older think it is an ati) and
se if there is any changes. If not I'll sell the motherboard. Damn.

Ok, sorry. I got the idea that all TNT was like that from a post I
read...
