Like to see him get proper graphics with Superbike World Championship and my
STB V4400 TNT as well.

Lets see.

1) Opening menu and some other menus in Badur's Gate corrupted with STB V4400
TNT.

2) Some overhead views and zoom features in Links LS 1999 corrupt with the STB
v4400 and a Diamond TNT card in another PC I have.

3) Some spiking of wheels and other graphic corruption with Superbike World
Championship on the STB v4400 TNT.

There are several other games I have also had difficulty with that use Direct3D
or OpenGl with the two TNT cards I have. (Links doesn't use either but still has
poblems).

Basically at the moment the game designers get their product working properly on
the Voodoo 2 first. A patch or two later might fix the TNT problems. Therefore
compatability will still be an issue until the TNT2 obtains a large chunk of the
market.

P.S. Yes, I have tried MANY different drivers for both the STB and Diamond TNT
cards.

P.P.S. TNT2 will be the better card but compatability must be taken into
consideration so I suggest you stop "spinning you know what".

Yes.. the better card. Be damned if I am gonna waste my precious $$$ on an
inferior product from 3dfx. The greater majority of the public are not
stupid either.  The TNT2 will be by far the more popular card with all the
OEM's and support it has, and, therefore, it will easily have more support
from *** manufacturers in future titles rendering the Voodoo 3 a complete
waste of money. But then again.. I couldn't give a rats you-know-what coz
I'll have a V770.

Yeah, the GAMES have the support, but the CARD doesnt!
Try running Grand Prix Legends or Superbikes on your TNT!
There are heaps of problems with running games on TNT (and maybe
TNT2).
I'm talking about the compatibility between the card and the game. Not
what APIs the games support!

Better quality, hard to say. Better image quality sure. Better
comptibility? Forget it. I'm going to have a TNt and Voodoo2 in my
system soon, so I get the best of all worlds.

Riva cards have traditionally had some driver issues, and some games
simply wont work properly on them. I'm sure there are heaps of other
games out there which take a lot of patching/tweaking just to get them
to run on TNT.

It doesn't work (traps on startup) on my particular setup (Win 95
SR2,DX6.1,TNT ref .48,Viper 550). It's only a beta

I should say after that, use the Hercules drivers they are the best of the
bunch.  Diamond have had my custom in the past but they forget about their
users and customer service. (Ah the old S3 2000, oh well)

My problem with the V3 is the limited sources of companies you can
purchase it from.  There will be less competition, higher prices, etc...

Also, I see the *** world moving away from 3dfx and towards the more
open DirectX.  I am not sure that's a good thing, but that is what I'm
seeing.

I have had more problems with the V2 as a Directx card than any other.
that worries me too...

Probably too early to tell until the TNT2 comes out and we get some good
data on both.

Works fine for me.

Did you install the OpenGL drivers in the GPL directory?

Yes. It's a fresh install of Win 95 OSR-2 then added nvidia .48 ref
drivers, Directx6.1 and the open gl beta 2 patch in the GPL directory.
It traps on startup in GLU32.DLL. Viper 550, Celeron 333A on Abit BH6,
SB 64PCI. I'm about to try Win 98 as a last resort - although I'll try
the Hercules drivers first. Can you list exactly what you are running ?

This is really annoying me - I'm regretting selling my Voodoo 1.

If my memory serves me correctly, Nascar racing is a 4 year old DOS game.

BS. The Viper isn't any more problem-prone than any other TNT card.

I almost have to think it's those nvidia drivers...

I use the one's that came with my Diamond V550. I've never had any
reason to use any other.  Actually, I use the latest one's from Diamonds
web site, but they are the Diamond drivers...
