GPL glide patch?

by No » Tue, 30 May 2000 04:00:00

Someone posted that they used a glide patch on GPL. I asked where to
get it, but recieved no response yet. Where is this patch and why is
it needed? I have the official GPL patch and see no problems so just
what does this glide patch do? I have a V3.

There used to be aproblem with earlier versions of GPL and Voodoo cards
with more than 2MB texture memory. It was fixed with the patches,
otherwise it was necessary to tweak the Voodoo cards in order to limit
them to 2MB texture memory (not really a patch as far as I recall).

GPL glide patch?

I believe they are talking about the Banshee patch.  I think it was
originally done by George Smiley primarily to fix texture corruption
problems with Banshee cards.  It would do the same with voodoo3's but
made the menus wierd.  It does some other things like solve some
monitor refresh rate problems and allow the mirror refresh to be slowed
down.  I've never used it but think you can get it at

GPL glide patch?

with gpl v1.2 and a V3 you don't need any other patches.  The glide
patch was for the V2's.

GPL glide patch?

I think the references to the patch in question was relating to getting GPL
working under W2K. It is necessary to use that patch with V3s under W2K with
GPL, otherwise it crashes on the menu screens.
I'm sure if you check back that was the issue.
