Every AI car goes into the pits after the race.  If you look at the F2
screen you'll see that they are in the pits.  I try to go to my pit stall
(spotter told me to bring it on home) to end the race.  Nothing happens.

Any ideas/insights?

Thank you poiinting that out.  But home come when I pit, PIT doesn't come
up on the F2 screen like the other cars do?

Dominic,

After a race, wait a few seconds, then press the Escape key.  You will
see the finishing screen, and then have an opportunity to view final
standings.

Merry Christmas!

Yes, I know to hit the ESC button (N1 and N2 are the same).  But why do the
AI cars show on the F2 screen that they are pitting, yet my car doesn't.
This even happened in N1.

I pull into the pits, stop the car & press the Escape key.

If I won, I go to victory lane.  If not, I walk back to the garage
area with the crew pushing the car behind me.

How come it doesn't automatically show you in the pits like the other cars
will?  It be nice to have consistancy throughout.  In other words, it
should show on the F2 screen that I made it back to my pit stall.  It then
should automatically end the race for us without using the ESC key.

OK. You couldn't do it in N1 and you can't do it in N2. The race is
over. Get a beer. Whats the problem.

You do not have to pit to end the race, but you do have to allow all the
AI to cross the finish line.  I ran a 5% race season just to see if they
did anything special at the end of the season and I quickly went from
race to race.  After one race that I won, I exited so quickly that all
the AI weren't able to cross the line.  I didn't notice it at first but
I got the "OK to leave race" message.  I said OK.  It then put me back
at the beginning of that race and I had to run it again.  If you think
the race is over, but you get that "OK to leave race" message, don't say
"OK".  Go back in and wait for the AI.  If the race is truely over, you
should see your car either in victory lane or being pushed back to the
garage.  I know this might not solve your problem, but without being
able to save your race weekend anymore, it might prevent a problem in
the future if you ever run an offline series race.

Unless of course you are running a championship season, finish the
race go to watch the replay of yourself just beating Mark Martin at
the line (0.0 sec ) hit accel. time and the race never (20 min)
finishes, now I have to do another 100 laps a Michigan... thet, in my
opinion is a problem.

I know that I sould have returned to the car and driven to the pits
but I forgot in a moment of passion. The question is when have you or
haven't you finished a race?

Anthony.

David, I don't have a problem with ending the race, but I do have a problem
with the "PIT" status showing up for the AI cars and not for me.

Exactly, there is no difference in the way the sim handles events from
N1 to N2.  Just goes to show, all their efforts went in improving the
graphics, the AI, and the menu.  They probably didn't spend more than 40
hours total on the actual simulation.  This should have been a patch for
N1.  It doesn't deserve the distinction of being called N2.

Why do you need to see PIT in F2 for your car? Have you lost track of
where you are on the track? Look out the windshield...

The PIT marking for AI cars is there to tell you when the AI cars pit,
presuming that you won't always be in a position to determine that
such and such AI car is pitting without seeing it on F2...

For continuity's sake, for closure, to symbolize ending the race.

No, but the computer might have.  Just like it does with yellow flags
coming out and me having to race to the cross the finish line three times
before I get the wave, mostly its just two laps...) Also with the arcade
mode (lapping ya within the first 10 laps of the race, geesh, they're
supposed to slow up according to the manual).

The checkered flag is my favorite symbol. Is it just me? Does this argument
remind anybody else of the Black Knight battle in Monty Python's "The Holy
Grail"?
