belatedly join in, having found my IGPS1 CD the other day... Almost
persuaded me to fire up GPL again :-)

For an event that didn't allow a reset for going upside down the last
lap at Mosport was the one for me :-)
Hi Graeme!
Tony
lol, I remember that one. I saw you finish the race on three wheels
and on fire and wondered how you managed it!
What chance a reunion race sometime? :-)

My favorite pass was when me and ZZ Busch were racing down the
backstretch at Mosport and I caught him and passed him just as we
crested the last rise before the right-hand sweeper.
We both made it through the turn!
Bill Cranston had retired because he had company arrive at his home. He
was showing them the game (our race in progress) and he clicked onto me
and ZZ just as we started down the back stretch. He said it was
pandemonium as me and zz settled it at the top of that rise.
You want to hear something weird? I have a much better system now then
I did when we were running in IGPS, and GPL doesn't run as well. I get
brief periodic screen freezes. The only thing I can think of is that
GPL isn't real fond of my ATI Radeon 8500 running in D3D (I was running
a Voodoo card when IGPS was active). I don't run *any* graphics mods or
anything like that, and I still have worse performance than I did with
the voodoo card.

Some things from earlier threads to try:
1)Set your computer in control panel/system/file system/ to network
server (which increases caching ability).
2) Set your computer in control panel/system/performance/virtual
memory (swapfile size) to min 128 max 128
Actually in your case with 512meg you can set it to min256 and max256.
3) Set your bios aperture to 64 (or even 128)
(Hit the del key when computer boots up)
4) Set the line in your system.ini file to
ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
This file should be in your windows directory(folder).
5) Use enditall (look for version #1 it's easier to understand).
6) Set number of sounds in GPL to full (16)
7) Turn the volume in GPL down to 50-60%, and the volume in windows
down to about 70%. Then adjust your volume using your speaker amp.
