IHHD without a modem, but with a network card.

IHHD without a modem, but with a network card.

by Paul Smy » Tue, 07 Jun 1994 19:45:14

Dear all...
I use a PC connected directly to the internet via its network card- and I
was wondering how it would be possible to use it to connect to the local
(on the other side of the room) UNIX host, and use IHHD.
The problem seems to lie in the terminal connection to the UNIX machine,
and making the PC think that it is like a modem connection.
I already know how to use IHHD for a modem, so that part of it isn't
the problem- what I could do with knowing is the business with the
terminal connection- are there programs which make the machine treat
the network card like a modem?? Has anyone tried this before? Are there
easier ways of connecting two PCs for game-playing across the internet?

Any clues would be greatly appreciated...Thanks, Paul Smyth.

Problem is that most games expect a modem.  Limitation is in the
software, not the hardware.  You might try a serial cable to the Unix
box.
