DSL, 2link firewall modem, NR2003 HELP!

Help? I got to figure this out....

Been on cable, moved & ended back on dialup.  well I moved again, got DSL...
it is a 2wire HPNA kit, has the 2link firewall modem combo...

So I gets onto the FLM server sunday evening, each time the server went to
"race" I lost connection fell out to lobby.  I was getting under 100 ping.
but as session changed to race, it grew fast, then plink..  In in the lobby.
I never even tried to hit the Race button yet you understand.

Tried it again last night  but as luck goes FLM was done for th evening, so
I finally find an open server with a track I care to get on, course it was
late and waited the 8 practice minutes for the server (with 15 other people)
to run down to qual & race.  Figures, the owner resets/unplugs the damn
thing, causes everyone to be kicked out.  so I still dont know if the
problem is something at my end (firewall) or just crappy DSL.

NR2003's Readme says shouldnt need ANYTHING (port forwarding or anything) to
Join races, only if you wanna host...

But this firewall does have a few things you can turn on turn off, one being
"Strict UDP" something control, and block pings, and stealth mode.  Any of
these cause NR03 to disco at time of race?

Try www.dslreports.com you may find some answers there on the forums. Is
that with Bellsouth?

It is SWB's new name, Im in KS...

Turns out that the Id10t terms and defintions that 2wire uses for some
settings were guessed wrong by me.  Another no no was found out, wonder if 2
wire will address this situation.  there are some settings that "seemed"
like a good idea, at the time that I "tested" then turned off when I saw no
apparent changes, but alas apparently setting strict udp handling and one
other, caused me to be unable to even open secure websites (http*s*) sites.
even though I had unchecked these, it was still causing trouble, so I had to
(with tech on the phone) reset the 2wire to defaults...  and Whalla!  works
fine.

on the other problem I was having, I was on that computer I "used" to race
NR2002 on, (upgraded when 2003 came out) and seems that the computer
(actually the junk HD I put in it) was too slow & possibly having "bad
secoctors indicatino failure", and just dumped me out because it was having
troubles loading at change of sessions...  NEW HD fixed that problem is
seems?

Thanks BS...  I actually found this link, has nice util to reset Rwin, MTU
and stuff on site.
