N3 & Sympatico DSL Problem - please help!

by Willard Vanderploe » Sat, 05 Aug 2000 04:00:00

Greetings all;

I just got dsl from Sympatico and couldn't wait to try out N3.  Well,
the pings looked awesome at 65 and up.  Joined my first race and ran
about 4 laps and WHAM - framerate through the floor to 3 or 4 fps.
Normal for a while and then again.  There's no way I can race like this
- gonna cause wrecks big time.  Sometimes when it happens I get the
clock zapped message.

Checking the conn at the start, tho my latency is .8 or .9, quality 100
and send gives numbers all over the place.

Is this packet loss?
Other?  How can I fix this?  Can I slow the conn down for racing?

Should I call Sympatico and tell em to shove their dsl modem WAY up
there ass?

Thankx in advance for the help!

Nope...it works fine for me.

A lot depends on who is hosting...e.g., it could be a regular modem user.
Try hosting yourself and invite your friends with DSL (or MAYBE cable)
modems only to join (as I do sometimes)....zero warping and stuttering and
problems.

Marc.

Works fine for me.
You making these assumptions after just one race?

I have no problems at all! It sounds like you might have
a problem with your NIC settings though. Did you have a
network card in your system before installing ADSL?

Thanks guys, the problem is fixed!

It was fixed by putting a dummy ip addy in the network configs.  Thanks to
those responding.
