New Open Wheel Sim from Papyrus???

I think I read in the Spring 96 issue of Interplay magazine that the
next game due out from Papyrus was supposed to be 'based on a time when
the men drove the cars, not the other way around.'  This game was supposed
to be out during the Summer of 96 according to the article, can anyone
confirm this??

You gotta assume that they're talking about IndyCar II for Win95, calling it
an all new game?  I saw a post today from Rick G. that they're still going
to ship in 2 weeks (good for them...meeting a scheduled release date!!!).

Wasn't there also a rumour that they were working on a 60s racing sim?

Wow... wasn't it like two years ago not long after this group was created
that I suggested a "historic" racing sim?  I posed the question: "Why must
all new sims be the cars and circuits of today? Why not wrestle an old
Maserati against Juan Fangio at the old Nurburgring or something?"

People liked the idea then...

I'm pretty sure this is the same one I read about.  I'm not real sure what
they meant by "open wheel", but I think it would be great to make a sim
based on older cars.  Not an easy task, but I'm pretty sure that there's
an audience for it out there, especially if it's on par with Indycar 2 and
Nascar.
I doubt this article was about Indycar2 for Win95.  It said that it was
based on "a time when men drove the cars, not the other way around."
Obviously nothing like the cars of today.  I'm not sure when this game's
supposed to be released, or even if it's actually being made, I'd love to
hear some confirmation for someone at Papyrus.

Let's put some fenders on 'em, and do a CAN-AM sim!!!  Chapparal, Lola, etc.,
would be great!  Anybody remember Mark Donahue?

Remember Mark Donahue!!!  I talked with him on a couple of occassions.  A
real pro.

Peter Lyons has a fantastic book on Can-Am.  It covers every Can-Am race
that occurred.

Yes, I would love to get in a Chaparral 2-D and take on Bruce and
company.....

Why don't make a simulator based on the IMSA Sports car series?
