I haven't played much except GPL in a while, so my Thriller 3D
Rendition 2D/3D card has worked well for me. I'd like to add
some 3Dfx capability to my system. The most convenient thing
for me would be a V2 add-on card so that I can still run Rendition
for GPL, which I like. I'm a bit hesitant to do that, though,
since from what I hear the V3 chip is head and shoulders above
the V2 chip. Problem is, the V3 only comes as a 2D/3D combo
card.
Can I run a V3 2D/3D card along side my Rendition 2D/3D card
and be able to choose Rendition or 3Dfx within games as I want?
Will Win98 support that kind of system? I've seen V3 cards for
sale cheaper than V2 cards, which is kind of weird.
Also, is there a marked difference between the performance of
the V3 PCI and the V3 AGP? I noticed at the store one of the
V3 AGP boxes was pitching its AGP 4X abilities. Of course, if
I were to get an AGP card my Thriller would have to go away
since it's an AGP card too.
Any comments would be appreciated.
