CART!

by Andre Warrin » Thu, 24 May 2001 20:44:20

I'm at work, and I was bored a bit, so I visited some of my favorite
game sites. While I was on www.gamesdomain.com I noticed that they had
a 'readers letters' section. So, still bored, I started reading some
of those letters.
And then I saw this letter from one of our regular RAS visitors,
which really made me spit my beer - err, coffee all over my keyboard:

--------

We need a new CART sim, damn it!!!

hmm, couldn't find it. But something that really draw my attention
was:

Microsoft Train Simulator

Looks like a pretty crazy piece of software, and friends will be sure
this time that I have lost it completely :)

Olav,

Apparently Microsoft has caught some heat from the National Association of
Railroads (or some such) for encouraging the public to think it could run a
train!  I'm surprised the AAA or NHTSA doesn't object to GPL on the basis
that it makes us think we could control cars in excess of 55 mph!!!!

So maybe the US version will be limited. The player can only be in passenger
mode - lol

leaving the comfort of home - YYYYYYAAAAAWWWWWWNNNNNNN

Yeah, we'll probably hear the same complaints that we heard about GP3.
The trains handle like they're on rails...

Got me thinking. If enough people say 'CART!' enough times in enough
places will it get the corporate suits that control the business of sim
software development to hear and act to give us what we crave? Who knows
we might be the tip of a profit iceberg.

Makes sense but I doubt it because big business is more geared to creating
and controling their markets than listening those who know what they want
and need. People who know what they want are not as easily manipulated.

But of course there are companies that are less fascist expections,
so............
