(it is not a .wav). Do I need a special "player" ? Where can I get it ?

There is an utitlity to convert sample.cat to 99 files.wav and the 99
file.wave to sample.cat

There is a program called Wham, that can read this file along with lots
of other sound formats. Try going to http://www.shareware.com and
search for it. It's a Windows program.
