Adding Audio Samples to GP2

Adding Audio Samples to GP2

OK, using a program to rip .wavs out of the sample.cat file (see
gp2\sound), I was able to 'improve' the startup sound.

Check out http://www.racesimcentral.net/~sts/_gp2.html for both the new startup
sound and the program. Use the sample as SOUND5.WAV

Anyway, here's the problem. I have a ton of samples to use, only
problem is that the game is making any of the engine samples very
dirty- I know it's gotta be ramping sounds, (ie, changing frequencies)
nd so....I can't get a decent engine sound added to the game. Even the
sounds of cars passing (you're on the jackstands and staring at the
dashpanel) is messed up.

There's one of two possibilities- the Gravis Interwave HMI drivers are
screwed up (might seem unlikely, but those clowns did it with the old
GUS card) or the game is messing up the samples. Anybody with a decent
debug program feel like looking into this further- while the game's
engine sounds aren't bad at all, there's a lot of room to improve.

On a similar note, does anybody get 'mechanic' sounds while sitting on
the jackstands?? I get nothing. Again, this could be a Gravis problem.

Thoughts??
