I haven't seen any of the Sunday riding yet, but on Saturday, that Lance
Armstrong fella...whoa!    The pressure he put on everyone during the last
climb was amazing.

Jan Ullrich is also very strong this year, but it seems not strong enough
for Lance Armstrong. It's still a wonder that this man was nearly dead a few
years ago, but he won the toughest fight of his life against cancer and now
he he wins the Tour de France again and again and ...

Don't assume things you have no evidence to assume, Lance Armstrong fought
so hard to keep his life when he was riddled with cancer I can't see him
putting his health at risk to win a bike race.

They said the same thing about Greg LeMond.  Wonder if it might be a
coincidence that they're both Americans.

Lance Armstrong is an absolutely amazing human being.

Yeah wow, he must have the best doctor of the pack.....
Lance seems like a nice guy, but if you for one second believe that he is
any cleaner than the rest, you might just be a bit too patriotic.

PS: speaking of patriotism... funny how Laurent Jalabert, after signing on a
danish team and winning 2 stages, is "almost" a Dane now in the danish media
;)

I'm saying it about everyone. Cycling is the test-bed for new performance
enhancing ***. Have you been living in a cave or something ?

I've been following cycling seriously since 1988 (when Delgado won the
tour and Steven Rooks won the mountain price. I was eleven in 1988).
During the late 1980s and early 1990s, almost no-one spoke about
doping and thought about doping, but in those day's (almost) everyone
was using doping as much as they do now.
Since the "tour de dopage" of 1998, doping has been THE issue in
cycling. I believe nothing has really changed; they use doping as much
as ever and the sport itself hasn't changed much; they are still
cycling twice as fast as I do..

For me, however, the enjoyment has decreased. 10 years ago, I just
admired the cyclist who had done something extraordinary, now I start
thinking (subconciously) about the amounts of doping he must be using.

Like he says in the Nike commercial, "What am I on?  I'm on my bike --
six hours a day!"

Go Lance!

I think anyone who races the Tour De France is an amazing athelete.
Unfortunately they don't get enough credit.  Especially in North
America.

Lance is beginning to turn that around.

Greg LeMond was virtually ignored even through he, too, had to
overcome a life-threatening medical crisis (he was accidentally shot
by his brother-in-law) and came back to win the most exciting tour
ever when he won the maillot Jaune (sp?) in a time trial on the
event's final day by a scant 8 seconds -- the closest finish ever...

And outside the cycling community, he remained almost unknown...

The Telekom AG has said that they will quit with sponsoring the team if
there is an evidence that someone of their drivers has used *** or dope.
They are still in and so I don't see a reason why someone from the Team
Telekom is using ***. Can't say anything about Lance, but if you had to
fight for your life you won't risk your life by using ***.

> I think anyone who races the Tour De France is an amazing athelete.

Anybody who knows about the sport would agree with that, but they would also
agree that the people with the most money are the for mostly the ones at the
top.  It's normal, it's the same in motorsport.

More money = better crew = better scientist and research = finding new ways
to enhance your body (whatever it's by *** or by natural body work).  Just
replace the body with a racing car and we have motorsports :-)

It's like the Tifosis thinking that the Scuderia Ferrari don't cheat like
the other teams.  Riiiiight <roll eyes> ;-D

Most sponsors say they will quit if there is any cyclist caught for dope, to
be politically correct IMO.
I think they agree with almost everything as far as their cyclists aren't
caught.
Two teams have been caught recently (Festina and TVM) and I simply cannot
believe they are the only ones that were using dope, are using dope or will
be using dope.

I not going to accuse any cyclist personally; it's not a problem of
induviduals but one of the whole sport.

A couple of years ago, their has been a research in the USA about dope and
they found that a very large amount of young people were willing to
sacrifice 10 or 20 years of their lifes in order to achieve sporting succes.
And I think a similar research would give similar results in Europe, too.

greetings,
Han Monsees
