Mario Cipolloni, won another couple of stages this year in the Giro (Tour of
Italy), from the team Saeco who has been sayoing for the last 1 years
thahe's too old and they want him out, the problem they have is that nobody
else can win stages for them...but i think this year he will move out of
them...

Pantani has been caught cheating again with EPO and has started to race
again this year, unfortunately for him his team has not been selected to
make the tour.

what do you guys think of the coverage of the Tour.  We have been
getting Phill Liggett & Paul Sherwin for the last 10 years or so.

Excellent and informative for an ininformed viewer like me :)

Phil has become a welcome voice sort of like Murray Walker is as well.
He doesn't make as many gaffs as Murray though...

I think they do a great job covering the Tour. I've been following it for
about 12 years and I can't imagine not hearing them do the commentary.

The team Cippolini rides for did not get elected by the Tour de France
Management.
And Bjarne Riis is Danish by the way.. he has gotten of his bike and is now
head of team CSC-Tiscali with Jalabert as the star instead.

Mikkel

I think the coverage has been excellent. I live in Canada and we get
coverage via the US "OLN" network. Phil and Paul are very knowledgeable and
know when to talk and when to shut up (very important for commentators). The
American host Bob Varsha is also doing a very good job especially
considering he is normally a motor racing commentator.

OLN's coverage makes CBS's past efforts look like a joke. CBS would spend 25
minutes giving us Greg Lemond's life story then show 5 minutes of race
coverage. OLN is understandably emphasizing Armstrong's performance but at
least they don't make it look like he's the only one racing. And it's kind
of hard not to rave about the guy after the Alps and Pyrenees...

Yep, that's what I said. "For some reason his name just came to me. Bjarne
Riis from Denmark. Not
Belgium."

Talking of Aussie riders , I've just been watching a videotaped copy of the
Olympic triathlon . Craig Walton is one powerful rider , he might have won
the event if they'd had non-drafting rules for the bike leg . I heard on the
BBC commentary that he's moving up to Ironman distance which should suit him
better so long as his running is up to it. I look forward to seeing how he
does at Hawaii in October .

You Aussies certainly showed the world how to stage an Olympics last year .
It made Atlanta look like a school sports day . I took two weeks off work to
watch it and enjoyed every day , especially when Queally won the kilometre
time trial in the cycling .

Here's to reminiscing
