What directX version do you have loaded? I have that wheel and it works fine
in WinXP using drivers provided by XP and it works in Win98 fine so maybe
it's a problem with Win2K. It's not on Microsofts compatibility list for NT,
including XP, but it does work in XP.

Just a quick guess... seeing that you had the non-FF wheel, did
you unload the non-FF wheel in the control panel & the software
(drivers) completely b4 installing the new one?

Yea, forgot about that. Make sure the light is on in the middle of the
wheel.

That shouldn't matter. Just unplugging a device from USB unloads the
drivers.

Operative word there is "shouldn't".  Possibly plugging in a
different MS wheel loads the wrong MS drivers?  Anyway... it was
just a guess.  ;)

yes i did push the button...(light was on..)..tried both the drivers from the
cd and the ones from win2k...did (as best i know) a complete uninstall and
install each time...tried each one at least twice...or more...the MS install
told me that there was an unkown error that wouldn't allow FF to
initialize...the only help i got from the MS site was to install
directx7...already have 8.1 (from NR2002)...with "force on" the wheel is like
power steering without the the power--with it off it is soooo loose as to be
useless...any idea's appreciated...if there is info i didn't put in...ask me...

I had that wheel for a short while. I didn't like the clamping system, but
it was ok otherwise.
Not as sturdy as the MS wheel though.

I have the MSFF USB wheel installed on Windows XP Pro, and it feels like
very bad power steering without the version 4.0 software installed.  Have
you installed that?  Take a look at
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
possible solutions.  Have you calibrated and adjusted the settings in
Control Panel/Game Options(Controllers)?  I don't have Win2K installed right
now, so don't have the correct folder name in front of me.  Go into the
Controller's Properties and do the testing, then Calibrate it.

I tried with the win2k drivers and with the ver 4 that came with it..niether
would allow me to calibrate the FF...the ver 4 told me there was an "unkown
error that would not allw FF to initalize.."..or some such...finally gave up
and took it back...will save up for a momo (logitech has win2k drivers to
download..)..THANKS TO ALL THAT TRIED TO HELP OUT...
