in a video card?

The only thing I know of that's available in this area is "TestVRAM",
which is a Russian prog. that claims to be able to test VRAM on
nVidia cards. It's available from here (as TestVideoRAM, fourth one
down), but the page is entirely in Russian:
http://www.nvworld.ru/docs/mem_utils.html
so here's a Babelfished version (down to usual machine-translation
standards, I'm afraid):
Program for testing of the memory of videokart on the base of chips
from NVIDIA - TNT, TNT 2 (beginning from guy and concluding Ultra),
GeForche 256 SDR/DDR, GeForche 2 (?). for To geForche 256 DDR is made
the automatic tuning of maximum operating frequency on FRAMES for
TNT, TNT 2 are derived/concluded furthermore taymingi of memory. At
today's moment/torque this is the only known to us program of this
type.It is possible to boldly say that this eksklyuziv, which will
occupy honorable place in your machine and it will help you into the
difficult minute! ATTENTION:in more detail about the program and
about how to unpack archive can be read here. PEACE/WORLD NVIDIA
expresses special gratitude To serzh.u for program TestVideoRAM. You
also can skachat' this program.

Semi-unrelated but I'd like to try and help with the
troubleshooting...
One thing I've found that has caused lots of controller problems and
occasional lockups/freezes is a TSR called "LicCtrl". It should only
be present if you've installed any games that use E-License
technology.
Also, have you posted your system specs anywhere?

Happens with every set of video drivers both online and offline. Swap file
is at 650 min and max. All unessential processes have been shut down. Ram
has been replaced. It probably is the video card, but I was hoping to be
able to somehow check the video ram without spending yet more money to try
and solve this problem since it is only happening with N2002.

In the past when I've had a glitchy card, or with my present card if I
install newer drivers than it shipped with, some things will be stable
for short periods but things like 3dMark2001 crash almost immediately.
Unfortunately, that's the only app that I'm personally aware of that
will give your vidcard a thorough workout.
Finally have you played around with the swapfile size at all? I'll
plead ignorance on the ideal size for Windows, but I've always
typically set it to at least 2.5 times my system RAM. That shouldn't
cause lockups, but you might try just bumping it up to say 1GB
temporarily to see if it changes things.
Do the lockups happen on a fresh install of XP on a clean partition,
assuming you've tried that?

Hmmm... virus-scanner time, methinks. Especially given its source!

Did you enable that nView stuff? If so disable it and while your at it run
msconfig and disable "Nvidia Driver Helper Services". Might help.
