I think that's the essential point. *Everyone* will become bored
with something at some point. Everyone has their own "boredom
threshhold". For the most casual racers, GPL bored them from the
start (too much like work! :). OTOH, even the most hard-core amongst
us has to come up for air and take a break from GPL at some time. The
fact that you can still go on VROC on a weekend night and see 100
racers driving a three year old sim that was a "financial failure" (in
the opinion of some) is pretty amazing. While some of us take a
break, there are still others carrying on. And until there's
something better, GPL and VROC will still be there.
I can say I'm bored with GPL, too (but still run in my league every
week or two), and sim racing in general. I'm looking for something
new and exciting. Rally Trophy, WSC, anything... that can offer the
realism and depth and fun that GPL has.
One other point, someone said "well Alesi's not bored after ten
years and 200 races" (approximate quote). Sure, but does he drive his
car for an hour or two *every day*? Does he participate in one or
more races per week? (That's online league races, serious stuff, not
the "fast food" of pickup races which can be several per night.)
While modern real-life racers have a full schedule, I think a sim
racers spends more time on the track. Three years of GPL (racing
every day) is the equivalent of several long F1 careers, IMO.

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark
