Is anyone else just completely bored of GPL.

I dont mean -  "Ah - I'll give it a fortnight and I'll be loving it again"

I mean "I really dont like this anymore. Frankly it sucks. I dont want to
drive something thats 34 years old. I dont like the cars, I'm bored of the
tracks, I cant stand it any more."

I know I'm at best, average at GPL. But frankly - I'm just bored to ***
with it. I cant be bothered anymore

I've been very bored with it since becoming ***ed to N4. I've tried and
tried to get back into it, but it just doesn't do much for me anymore... :(

Personally, I can't really imagine growing tired of it. There's always
another something to learn. Small and incremental, obviously, but I haven't
stopped getting better yet.

The drive to launch it at least once a day is gone, but I'm sure I couldn't
last a fortnight without at least some off-line driving.

As I'm still competing online I have to drive it more often than that to
keep my level up, obviously, and I have to say I ever launch it "because I
have to", it's always because I want to.

I'm also very bored with it. I still go to VROC, probably because it's
interesting to hear all the F1 arguments every other weekend <G> and because
it's a habit I guess :) but I hardly ever fire up GPL now.

Let's start a campaign for a replacement :)

My sim of choice for single player driving is GPL.  The FF rocks the GPL
USB shifter rocks, the new tracks rock (Halle, Kiemola are my current
favorites with many more to try -- my standard setups will make this
easier).  The updates to the cars set are great and JF makes installing
them easy.  The quality of the online play is the best out there.

Really, until Papyrus gets their next open wheel sim out GPL will be the
king -- especially of open wheel 19 driver online racing!

Why doesn't anyone but Papyrus understand the fun/importance of online
practice sessions?  Try getting 20 drivers all connected before you
press "Go" -- THAT'S BORING!

Jason.

OK, I'm going out on a BIG, shaky limb here, and risk it all, but.......

I'd have to say that if you find GPL boring, then you're probably not very
good at it.

I'm not the best, by any means, but I'd have to admit that when 15 or so of
the 'aliens' get together and race, they probably have more fun then joe
bloe in a pick-up race.  I find it most fun when it's me and my friend who
are both fairly decent and evenly matched and we battle lap after lap after
lap, bumper to bumper, switching the lead back and forth.  If you're not
able to do this with someone, then, yeah, it probably gets boring after a
while, like anything else.  But if you can run up front and have _complete_
control over your car, and race with other people who also have _complete_
control of their car, it couldn't get boring anymore than racing could.

I just doubt that their's that many people out there with that level of car
control (note, I didn't say all-out speed), AND know other people with the
same skills.
You don't know what you're missing!

No. What's boring about driving a racing car?

Well, I've got a GPL rank of -44 so although not the fastest I'd say I'm
pretty good at it. A friend of mine with a rank of -68 and who still holds
the specific car WR at several tracks is also extremely bored with it.

Better go fix that big shaky limb ;)

It's normal.  Things come and pass...

Someday each and everyone of us will uninstall GPL (or not install it on
their newer PC).  It's a fact.

Well GPL is 3 years old but no other sim has come close to it (not even N4)
nor lasted as long

2 reasons:
1. games are made bland and easy for satisfying the lowest common form of
life out there. (there's an awful lot of them!)
and that leads to my second point
2. Sales of GPL were mediocre at best (because it was discovered, suprise,
suprise that it required skill and people just normally can't hack that sort
of abstract concept) so authors of sims like these are not gonna make much
cash. So back to the first point.

After developing the skill to drive GPL cars everything else seems DEAD,
DREARY AND DULL!

I'd love to move on...BUT TO WHAT!

And let's face it GPLers online are a better class of driver normally to
what u get online in N4

Remember it's only 3 years old, I havn't heard Alesi complain about driving
F1 cars for 10 YEARS!

He still has a passion for F1

Why not us for GPL

[snip]

I've felt this way for a pretty long time, actually.
I recognize the sims greatness, and realize the era was magic, but I
really don't care. I want a realistic sim with Porsches and Ferrari's
and even Corvette Z-06's, dammit.
