Snetterton Patch is posted!!

by Ed Solhei » Mon, 10 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Gentlemen,

The Snetterton "patch" has now been posted at the GPLEA-site.

This fix will;
-  add more flagpost
-  move the starter
- change the grid layout to 2x2 for better and safer online races
- fix collision plane problem on the brake-markers down the Home straight.
- and last but not least....  add AI to Snetterton :)

Please notice that you must also download a new snett.3do file, for the
track aswell..
(READ the instructions carefully on the page!!!)

To download the patch and/or Snetterton.... go here:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Enjoy!

does snett_update.zip contain everything we need to patch the track?  The
web page is pretty confusing about what you need to download.

Snetterton Patch is posted!!

Just because I'm a die-hard Nascar fan doesn't mean I don't enjoy the
occasional romp in my championship-winning Brabham once in a while. :-)

I like to stay relatively up to date on what's happening in GPL.  My
reflexes aren't what they were when I was racing GPL full-time, but I
still manage a podium finish many times.  Plus, it's a refreshing change
from the warp-fest Nascar Racing 3 pickup races that are all too frequent
on WON.

I just wish someone (Dave Noonan?) would build a converter to make GPL
tracks compatible with N3.  N3 is in desperate need of more road courses
(Spa, Silverstone, Monza, and the old Watkins Glen).  I'd even give
Nurburgring a try in a stock car if the track was available, but then,
I'm a glutton for punishment.

Hehe, that sounded a bit different when N3 came out, u were talking of
"hating" open-wheel-racing and said u were doin it only cause of the
superiour driving model GPL includes. Also, heard yer words on GSB one day
long ago stating u hadn't been in a GPL-cockpit for months, glad to see u
back here, John :) Now the next step would be .............errr........ not
keen enough to spell it out :)

"John Simmons" says...

Hmmmm...  I knew this would happen... :))

Along with the snett_update.zip file, you also need to download a new
snett.3do file...  (i.e Snett_huge.zip, snett_medium.zip or snett_small.zip)

Part of the confusion could be that huge.zip appears as large.zip until
you try to download it, then when windows asks you where you would like
to d/load it to, Large that you clicked on has suddenly become Huge<G>

Just a comment not a winge.....

What is the relation of this AI to the AI provided by Dave Noonan
short time ago? My first impressions of Dave's AI are good. So
should I update or not? (Perhaps that is explained in the page,
sorry if that is the case...)

Snetterton has nothing to do with Mr. Noonan.  And the GPLEA guys who
created it acknowledged when they released the track that the AI were
severely retarded.  This is the fix.

Dave really made his AI to GPLEA's Snette! You can find it it the Pits.
I do know the original. And I do understand it needed a fix. But my
question was about those two new AI's!

The AI's in our update, got nothing to do with the AI's Dave made.
However unlike Dave's AI-files [the ones he sent us before releasing it],
our update will replace *all*  the old lp-files, meaning the AI's will enter
and exit the pits correctly etc.

You also need the update if you want to fix the other issues we missed in
the first version of the track.

I'd pay $15 for that track ALONE...<g>
