My perfect car sim

My perfect car sim

I'm posting this just in case anyone important in the ***
industry is reading, and to start a good discussion.
My perfect car sim most importantly would drive like real cars
drive. That means you can choose from real cars, ones you can buy in
shops (with a bit of money), and not necessarily high-end cars like
Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Some examples: Toyota Celica GT-4, Subaru
WRX, Holden GTS, Ford Mustang Cobra, BMW M3 etc. Each car would have
noticably different driving styles, as they do in real life.
The tracks wouldn't really be tracks, but real-life like roads, with
traffic (from sparse to peak-hour gridlock), pedestrians, traffic
lights, stop signs, round-abouts etc. And they would be a full 3D world,
with many different options of getting from start to finish.
Basically , I'm looking for a game that simulates real life roads,
where I can drive real life cars, seriously (like you do in real life)
or suicidally (like you do in computer games).
Other nice touches would be modifiable cars, not just brake bias and
spoiler angles, but being able to build a car from scratch, choosing
dimensions, body style, engine-type (and being able to modify it too:
bore, stroke, cam, intake, ignition, exhaust, turbo, superchargers etc),
suspension components etc. It could work on a similar principle as do
drag racing applications that work out ETs given all sorts of engine and
other information.
A drag strip to experiement with these setting would be good.

I have been searching for this games my whole life, but the closest
I've come to is the NFS series, which leaves a lot to be desired (and in
someways is going downhill with each new edition). I'm still a NFS 1
fan. The other two have lost something...

Hi Tim,

Just attach a keyboard on the dashboard of your roadcar, put a monitor
on the hood, and go for a drive. ;-)

Cheers!

The 30% would be that it's an arcade game, not a simulator...

Because if I drove on real roads like I do in computer games, I
would be put in jail, or probably killed, taking many innocent people
with me. We wouldn't want that would we??!!

I mightn't have been clear enough in my original posting. What I was
trying to say was that I wanted real life driving situations simulated on
my computer, so I can drive like a maniac on my computer, therefore no
longer getting the urge to do so on the streets.
And unfortunately, I can't change my car from a Celica (reality) to a
BMW M3 (wish!) with a click of my mouse, or whack on a supercharger and 3"
exhaust in less than 10secs. That's what computer simulations are good
for.
Basically, I'm just sick to death of same-old arcade-style driving
games where real-world physics just don't exist, cars are limited to silly
mega-dollar supercars, and tracks that are just that, tracks, not roads.
Or the only other option is racing simulators where you drive F1 or
NASCAR... BORING!!! Is it just me, or does anyone else agree??? Has there
even been a car sim that has satisfied whatever urge you had that made you
want to play a car sim in the first place??? For me.. I'm still looking...

Closest calls: TOCA Touring, NFS 1

No, the 30% will be no euro cars, no damage, no everyday road, and is not a
PC Sim.

I have the same want. Still haven't been satisfied. Especially the crappy
sounds.
The F1 sims usually sound crappy and anything close to something I see on
the street sounds crappy.
It sounds so simulated. Somebody sample some good sounds, I'd play blind
folded.
