I'm posting this just in case anyone important in the ***
industry is reading, and to start a good discussion.
My perfect car sim most importantly would drive like real cars
drive. That means you can choose from real cars, ones you can buy in
shops (with a bit of money), and not necessarily high-end cars like
Ferraris and Lamborghinis. Some examples: Toyota Celica GT-4, Subaru
WRX, Holden GTS, Ford Mustang Cobra, BMW M3 etc. Each car would have
noticably different driving styles, as they do in real life.
The tracks wouldn't really be tracks, but real-life like roads, with
traffic (from sparse to peak-hour gridlock), pedestrians, traffic
lights, stop signs, round-abouts etc. And they would be a full 3D world,
with many different options of getting from start to finish.
Basically , I'm looking for a game that simulates real life roads,
where I can drive real life cars, seriously (like you do in real life)
or suicidally (like you do in computer games).
Other nice touches would be modifiable cars, not just brake bias and
spoiler angles, but being able to build a car from scratch, choosing
dimensions, body style, engine-type (and being able to modify it too:
bore, stroke, cam, intake, ignition, exhaust, turbo, superchargers etc),
suspension components etc. It could work on a similar principle as do
drag racing applications that work out ETs given all sorts of engine and
other information.
A drag strip to experiement with these setting would be good.
I have been searching for this games my whole life, but the closest
I've come to is the NFS series, which leaves a lot to be desired (and in
someways is going downhill with each new edition). I'm still a NFS 1
fan. The other two have lost something...
