When I start a race it immediatly gives me a 10 sec penalty ... even
though I have not jumped the gun at all....Also, you can,t preselect
1st gear and rev up to get ready for a start?

MAke sure you have your foot on the brakes until the lights go out.

You must be using automatic gear..... then pressing the accelerator which
will always give you a jump start......

Either use manual gears and rev the engine up or lese do not press the
accelerator 'till the lights go out.

Not sure about the penalty but from memory if you select 'allow false
starts' you will be able to select 1st gear before the red lights go out.
