MGPRS2 Question

by BRH » Tue, 01 Aug 2000 04:00:00

After some posts here comparing MGPRS2 to GP3 and F12K, I decided to
re-install MGPRS2.  (I never really got into it before.)

After having some problems running it at first, I finally got it running
well.  (Had to turn off all background processes.  DUH.  Framerates in
MGPRS2 seem a lot more sensitive to stuff running in the background than
framrates in other sims are.)

That being said, I'm sure that there are several sites with patches and
updates, such as improved sounds and season files.  Can someone point me
to a few sites?

Thanks.

Try this site for MGPRS2 addons:

  http://www.the-unofficial.com

Has just about anything/everything you could need or want.

BTW, I just picked up a copy of MGPRS2 and have really been enjoying
it, especially the career mode. Right now, it's my modern F1 sim of
choice. :)

Tony.

MGPRS2 Question

I also love MGPRS2 but after playing GP3 I must say it is my new favorite.
Yes - I miss a lot of the little things (false starts, being able to adjust
damage level to realistic) but aside from some minor overlookable items GP3
reminds me a lot of my old favorite - MGPRS2.

If you check out http://www.gameplay.com/reviews/659817# you will find
gameplay does a pretty good review of GP3. The review points out a lot of
the little things that GP3 has left out but overall the total package makes
up for these shortcumming.

GP3 has better physics and a better sense of speed than MGPRS2 and the AI
feels more like the real thing (arrgressive to put it lightly). It doesn't
have a career mode and the damage model is pretty forgiving (forgiving but
still good). All in all GP3 puts you in the hotseat like no modern F1 title
since MGPRS2 (and Ive tried them all).

One other benifit: the community of builders and painters is 5 times that of
MGPRS2...in fact, you will see some of the same names.

PS : a lot of people slag on the graphics but they really are not that bad -
in fact, they make me feel right at home.

MGPRS2 Question

Thanks.  I checked www.the-unofficial.com.  Maybe I'm missing something, but
exactly where do I  find the downloads of Patches, sounds, etc.  I'm
particularly interested in improving the sounds of this sim.  Also, is there
a NoCD patch floating around somewhere for this sim?

Finally, one last question not directly related to MGPRS2 -- Whenever I
reboot my PC, the volume level of my WAV files is reduced to half.  (The
slider is halfway down)  I always have to manually adjust it.  Is there a way
to save it at the maximum level?

(I'm using an SBLive with LiveWare 2).

Thanks.

Try this direct link:

  http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Should be a menu on the left where you can choose the different addons
you're after. Make sure you check under the Seasons item...there you
can download a complete season update from 1997-2000 that contains all
the cars,***pits, track adverti***ts, car logo's, setups and
driver names for that season. Then all you'll need are some new sounds
and you'll be set. :)

AFAIK there's not a No CD patch for MGPRS2. :(

Not sure about you're last question.

 Hope this helps.

Tony.

You might find a no-cd patch for that sim at www.gamecopyworld.com
and I think you should upgrade to LiveWare 3.0  it`s far better than
2.0 and it will probably fix your WAV volume prob.

All the best,
Lorne

Um...you sure that's not directly related to MGRS2? Everytime I run
that game the wave output is set to 50%. I alt-tab while in the game
and set it back up to a higher value.

I also readjust manually. But there is a way to change to 2D-sound, there it
works. Just check out ras with Deja-news for input.
