What graphics card?

Help. I received a LWFF for Christmas. My old computer is too slow for todays
games. I have been fighting my laptop from work to add a second disc drive and
run win95 or 98 so that I can play DTR and GPL. But the laptop has a bios that
will only recognize one disc drive. So I must build a new computer for my
games. My question is what graphics card to use. I am only interested in racing
sims, no Quake or anything like that. I may want to run a 3D CAD program but my
first priority is GPL and DTR. I would be glad to receive advice on sound cards
also.
Thanks for your help,

Even though I still run an 8meg thriller and get full performance with GPL I
believe most people are going to recommend a V3-3000 and I would agree. You didn't
say what cpu you run so I should  mention that GPL really needs a 400 or better to
run well, DTR seems more a video issue.
I have it but after a week or two it was back to GPL.

If you are not playing any Glide games, then the TNT2 or TNT2 Ultra is
the way to go.  Best bang for the buck.  If you want cutting edge and
don't mind spending the big bucks (or you work in the *** industry
and get stuff for free...lol), then the Geforce is the way to go.

Bset sound card?  Don't know about the "best," but I have a SB Live in
all my machines.
