GPL: D3D not working! Help!

by Brook Halvorso » Tue, 04 Jun 2002 04:57:00

I just had to re-format after a virus killed my c:\ so I'm starting from
scratch.  I have an Athlon 800 with a GF3 Ti200 and had it working fine with
GPL before the crash.  I had the D3DDevice set to 1, everything else was
pretty normal.  I have the latest nvidia driver (the one posted on today's
website) and I even tried the driver I was using before the format.  I'm
going into GPL, changing the 3D accelerator to D3D7, pressing the green
button, then exiting to desktop, then restarting GPL with no luck.  I try
changing the D3DDevice to 0, 2, 3, no luck; I try changing the app.ini to
D3D7.dll (or whatever it is), no luck; I've reinstalled the D3D7.dll twice,
that hasn't changed anything.  What is going on?  I know my computer can do
this, what am I doing wrong?  It can't be my computer, it has no faults :-)
Are there any specific settings I should try in the Nvidia Direct3D control
panel?  Should I get rid of the AGP driver that came with my motherboard
software?  Should I give my computer box a big whack?  Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Brook

Oops, I did a reply about 2minutes after my first post, but it didn't
show...

It was DirectX.  Forgot to update it...

Thanks!

Yeah, we can't help you without any answers to these questions. I've
found that newer versions of video drivers don't works with GPL, 21.xx
are the latest I could get to be functional.

GPL: D3D not working! Help!

HI,

I've had this problem in the past, the only way i found to resolve it
was to change the config entry in app.ini manually then start up and
all appears to be ok.

Might be the file is read only so it won't update it.

hope it helps, mark...........
