I needed to reclaim some hard disk real estate. So I decided to create
a partial install of the Rendition based ICR2. I was able to reclaim
about 42-45 meg. If you wish to do the same thing, here is what you
need to do.
First edit the lib.cfg file in the ICR2 main directory on your hard
drive. If it doesn't exist just create it one with a straight ascii
text editor. It should contain just one line, the full path to the ICR2
directory on your CD-ROM. Here is mine (based on the Intergraph CD):
h:\indycar2\icr2
I don't know if it is necessary, but there is a space at the end of the
line (this is how it was in NASCAR1).
Now go through the TRACK directories and delete the *.dat files. If you
have any converted tracks don't delete their *.dat files. Now go
through the following directories and remove all the files:
effects
objs
rol
sound
The only thing you will notice is that it will take longer for the game
to start and for a track to load once you select it. Otherwise there is
no seeking the CD-ROM during track time.
