Why not?!?!? Was it THAT hard to do in NASCAR?

Rick posted back and said that there WILL be a save game feature for
ICR II.

I've had plenty of computer-freezeups and electrical outages during this
season's IICC races, so I do know the feeling. That's the one argument
I see for a saved-game feature. Since we've already heard that ICR II
*is* going to have the saved-game feature, this debate is pointless anyway...

Sorry, but I have to rebut this. The reason a race should be run at
100%, even if you need to save the game to finish it, is because if
everything ELSE is being run realistically, then the strategy you use
to win the race is VERY different. For instance, in the Indy 500,
Jacques Villeneuve was put down 2 laps because he passed the pace car.
Yet he won. Do you think he could've gotten back into it if the race
were only half as long? And what about pit strategy? The whole
concept of figuring out how many stops you're going to make and how
you're going to manage fuel. When you shorten the race you turn a
patiently fought, strategic game into a hell-breaks-loose wind-sprint.
Finally, in a long event, more cars will drop out and even if you are
3/4ths of the way back on the starting grid, if you run a smart,
heads-up race and have a good pit strategy, you can reel your
opponents in one by one and actually win or place in the race. In a
shorter race if you don't quality right up near the front you have to
drive like a freaking maniac to get up into the points -- you can no
longer afford to drive strategically. So I do think its realistic to
be able to run a full race and save and come back to it.
I'd much rather win using realistic strategy and driving techniques
than have to do kamikaze braking maneuvers because there aren't enough
laps in the race to allow me to win with careful smooth driving on the
correct racing line, combined with a smart pit stop strategy.
