: No, it's not a bug it was intended to be that way. Think of it as a race
: being red flagged because of rain and restarted the next day. NASCAR doesn't
: use an "aggregate time" system as they do in Formula One. If you happen to be
: way out in front when the race is stopped, you lose your advantage, and that's
: unfortunate, but that's just the way it is.
: In the Papyrus game, when you exit and save and come back to the same race
: later and restart, in effect what you have done is impose a red flag period
: in the middle of your race.

--- Also a useful tip on this issue is try to limit your save-race to a
point in the race during a caution and JUST as you receive the
"One Lap Until Green" message. The only short-coming to that is all
cars are re-organized according to standings (as they do anyhow with
ANY save) still, BUT it doesn't affect you with respect to 'bunching up'
as you were bunched up anyhow AND it better maintains you RACE AVERAGE
SPEED as opposed to throwing in an unwanted 'yellow pace lap'.
--- It's still pretty frustrating that the two lapped cars you just got
by which separated you fromthe 2nd place car get moved to the back of
the field on a re-load with the 2nd place car on yoru bumper again :-(
