GPL-Online......2 Questions.......

Hi all!

1.) Last night I was hosting a race on VROC using GSB, setup for 5 (five!!)
players and ISDN-internal. I felt like taking part in a sequel of Star Trek
as there was a lot of warping going on, and after looking at the replay of
the race, I understood why, as I noticed that there were 8 (eight!!) drivers
hopping (couldn't call that driving) around! How can this be and how to
avoid this? I'm not confusing this with drivers joining late and replacing
others, this is ok, no, there were 8 cars actually racing!.......Help
please!......

2.) As I learnt lately, GPL changes the color of the names in the entry-list
to red when a driver is no longer taking part in the session. Not here, I
always have the names in black, no matter what status of drivers. Also, when
I just hosted a race, the race is over and I start a new one without exiting
GPL, the drivers entry-list is all messed up: showing names here and then;
with blank names in between; when I go to live-feed without maximizing and
look at ppl driving, I can scroll the drivers ok using the arrows but the
drivers all have my name; when I maximize live-feed, the driver-names are
showing correctly......very odd...... I have an Orchid-Righteous-Voodoo1 at
640X480, PII 400, 128MB, fps is great, got the usual graphic-flaws
(mouse-cursor as well as menu-screens flickering now and then), Win95 at
640X480 when doing GPL.......any ideas?

cya and thanx!

GPL has a feature used by Spy Boy where an external program can "ask"
howmany drivers are connected. It can't ask howmany drivers are trying
to connect. So, with a chatroom full restless drivers, and no races
available, what would happen?

Yup, 7 drivers jump at once on  poor Maaki's race, and because none
off them are connected yet, they all get access, with a total of 8
drivers as result. (The limit of clients in GPL is 19 drivers, no
matter what the max is in Spy Boy or VROC)

The red names should occure at the <Events> screen. (If you get the
track information, push the dogear for the driverslist)

The best way to run another online race is to "reset the server"
before you start the next event. "Resetting" is going back to the GPL
mainscreen.

I wonder if there is a way to get more then 19 drivers in a race?  I know
that the more drivers that are in a race, the more the server has to work.
However, if I can host 19 drivers with my server without a problem, I can only
assume that someone with a better computer then mine could host 25, 30, or even
more.  The only limitation I can think of would be the clients connection
method.(?)  I don't know how much data is being sent out to each client. So, I'll
just *assume* that drivers with a 56k modem could only get 19 to 20 drivers worth
of information at a time.  Since cable modems are becoming more and more widely
used, again I'll assume, More and more drivers could participate in a race.  If
this is correct then the only limiting factor would be then the hosts computer.

If there is a way to change the maximum number of drivers...  I would love to
test this out.

The one thing that I can think of to change to get more drivers would be the
start line line up..  At the moment there are 19 cars set in the grid.  If we
could add more grids?

Correct me on this and tell me what limitations there are.

Nope.  GPL has a hard limit of 20 drivers (the host plus 19 others).
