You are such a***, can't say I'd want to race with you either.

Only for target practise anyway.

RASCAR: It's all yours guys

You know guys that there is a forum over at Race Sim Central that Phil
started for us. That might be the place to discuss racing deals and such.

http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=142

Maybe we should start discussing the races there. It's not quite as open a
forum as RAS.

<snip>

My take as a bigtime lurker and veteran of, oh, TWO RASCAR races...

John:  I think you've given everyone a lesson in how to cut off your nose to
spite your face.  You appear to have gotten too emotional and now you're
gonna look a bit silly IF you decide that you miss the RAS races and want to
be part of it again.  It's not possible to be impartial when giving an
overview of incidents you were involved in.  You can call it how you see it,
but the fact is you know what your thought processes were as you attempted a
failed manoeuvre and they could be completely rational, but to others who
don't have that insight it may look like a stupid move.  Pass judgement all
you will on other incidents, but leave those that you were involved in to a
third party.
FWIW - I think you've been extremely valuable in RASCAR and it's a shame to
see you go.  I often agreed with your opinionated blatherings ;-) but this
(the caution recap and the subsequent quitting) was ill advised.

Caution recap by someone who didn't race would be ideal, though.  But who
the hell wants that job?

BowtNetterToDo:  If you think that John has some sort of personal grudge,
then you either think too highly of yourself or too little of John.  Seeing
the amount of work he puts in to this sim racing thing FOR OTHER'S BENEFIT
along with the fact that he will, no doubt, have a life, I think it's
incredibly rude of you to think that he has decided to go out of his way
looking to cause you grief.  To put my Simmons hat on, I'm just calling it
as I see it.  If you guys run at similar speeds (and it seems you do) then
most likely, if you're gonna have a racing incident (and you WILL) it'll be
between yourselves.  Simple, really.  You really think John has
NowtBetterToDo?

Just my opinions for you all to ignore...

As an outsiders I would have to say that most of the problem was due not to
the recap but how it is worded.  Using "stupid passing move" does not show
any respect to other drivers.  Sure people make mistakes but calling someone
stupid is just asking for trouble.  When you call someone stupid then expect
to get some feedback from them on it.  Perhaps "aggressive", "risky" etc
would be a better choice of moves.
Maybe the recap was a "stupid reviewing move' ;)

John...

Not sure I ever said that?  But, I am also sure some "dink" will find it
with a Google's newsgroup search engine.

That being said, "welcome to the sim racing community."  There's people here
that don't like you, never will, never did.......from the first day they
read something you posted......they'll pick on you forever.  There's others
that don't like what you say, sometimes.....and tell you.  They will also
tell you when they like (or agree with) something you say......but will only
"sometimes" tell you.  There are also many that won't tell you
anything......they are "read only" visitors.......but you'll see them on the
sim track with you, just the same.  There's a few that will cheer you when
you "kick some butt."  But, they'll be "cry babies" when its theirs being
kicked.  There's also many who will accept you as a human being (mistakes
and all).....embrace you and be fair with you........and like you because
you are "trying" to make this sim racing community a better place.

Isn't this just about the way it is in real life?

John, I'm not trying to tell you that giving up your self-appointed duties
with the RASCAR races on Saturday is something you shouldn't do.  That's
your decision and yours alone to make.......and "f_ck" everyone else.  Easy
jobs are hard to do....when they are not fun!  The opposite is true also,
IMHO.  I would ask you to consider your decision in light of "what's the
right thing to do for your continued support of sim racing.....and this sim
racing community?"  Its an old clich, but it seems appropriate at the
moment, "If you don't want to be tackled......stop running with the ball!"

Regardless of your decision......and although I've never run in a RASCAR
event.....I appreciate what you've done and the support and leadership role
you've take in this sim racing community lately.  I don't like everything
you've done....and a I don't like everything you've said.  So what.  I like
most of what you say and do.....and I respect you for trying to make this a
better place to sim race.

Thank you.

See you around....I hope?

Regards,

Tom Pabst
