N2 Sound

I just bought a new pc and am able to run N2 in windows98 now.But everytime I
start the game with the CD[in order to answer in Multi-mode]all I get is this
high pitched screeching sound.No problems when I run without the CD.Does anyone
know how to answer without the CD in? Or how to fix this problem?
