I had an AMD 5x86-133 and I was running N2 in SVGA.  I did not have all
the graphics turned up, but most of them were turned on.  I know that I
left the textures turned off.  I finally decided and saved up the money
to upgrad my system to a P166.  Man, does it fly.

I would suggest that you upgrade sometime in the near future.  I know
that it is not cheap, but real soon a a DX66 will not even be a minimum.
I paid $419 for my new triton board, P166 CPU, and fan.  That was before
the MMX came out.  All the stuff is going to get cheaper and the older
something is the more obsolete something will be.

Hi, I have a lot of racing sims questions to ask, from older to newer
sims. So here they are!

How do you use a joystick in Indy 500? Does a TMGP1 wheel will work?

I bought a CD-ROM version of IndyCar Racing 1 (with the track pack
included, but not the Indy extension) and there's no paintkit. Is this
wrong?

Does Papyrus plan to release a Track Pack for ICR2? It could contain
Homestead, Rio de Janeiro, California, Gateway and even, maybe, the
future japanese track or a track like Trois-Rivieres (used in Atlantic
and Indy Lights series).

I just bought Nascar 2 and I must say that I'm a little disappointed. I
don't care running the game in VGA, but I must remove all details to get
a "decent" frame rate. I think I'm getting best results with GP2 even if
my system (486DX266, 20 megs RAM) is under the minimum requirements.
Does anyone have a system like me and is able to run N2 satisfyingly?

So if you have the answer to any of these questions, please mail me!

Thanks

Though it was before my time at Papyrus, I believe that the paintkit
was bundled only with the Indianopolis Track "Pack".

Probably not. I suppose it could depend on the video card (someone
might have a 486/66 with a kick-***video card and have it work
acceptably), but on a 486, details off is the order of the day...

I've also got a 486dx66 with 20 megs of RAM, I gave up trying to run
NASCAR 2 long ago.  My advice is to go out and get NASCAR 1, if you
don't have it already.  I've made an almost complete carset for NASCAR 1
too, if you want it email me.

That's actually a good point. The graphics operations in NASCAR1 were
optimized for the 486, which made them slower on Pentiums than they
could have been. (of course, when N1 came out, a 486/66 was a decent
machine)

N2 is more optimized for the Pentium, making the code run slower on a
486 than N1, but the vast majority of the customers of N2 have
Pentiums, so that's the logical processor to target for optimizations.

The ICR1 paintkit was in the Indianapolis track addon. Do you have any idea
whare I can get this??? I tried looking in local stores but they were out
of stock (not suprisingly). I would think Sierra, EA or Papy would have
some
laying around for sale.

Papyrus won't have any for sale, since they sold out of these over
6-months ago...The last I heard is that you may still be able to get
a copy at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway gift shop.  The cost for
the pack is around $20 bucks.
