Super Consoles and Racing Sims

Hi all,
Well I dont want to start a flame war about the new 32/64 bit
consoles, but from the information I have seen these look like they
could be the ideal simulator machines.

On the UK GamesMaster TV program they showed clips of the Sony Playstation
running Ridge Racer and it looked incredible!  Almost as good as the
arcade machine and really smooth.  Bearing mind that Indycar and Nascar
need Pentiums to run, could these machines be the way to go.  Indycar
is supposedly being written for the PlayStation, and compare the costs,
1200 quid for a PC or 300 quid for the playstation!

Well just thought I would throw that point into the air and see what your
opinions are!

Indeed they could. However, one thing that I really like about PC/Amiga/
whatever based driving sims is that you'll always find people willing to
go out of their way to "customise" these programs - car colour editors,
performance editors, lap monitors, etc., etc., etc.

This sort of thing does not seem to be possible with consoles, unless
you spend mega-bucks on machines to read and write cartridges.
