Road Atlanta for F1 2000 rocks!

Since Road Atlanta was one of my favorite tracks in SCGT, I couldn't
wait to give it a shot as soon as I noticed it was available for F1
2000.  Man is this place a blast!!  Frame rate here is *much* better
too, I can now turn on mirrors (without details) and still have better
framerates in-race than I do at F12K Monza.  Better watch that final
turn before the S/F though.  Although I qualified on the pole here, that
wall stripped me of my left side tires halfway thru the race during a
heated battle. <g>

Road Atlanta definitely is awesome in F12000. Wild ride.

I think the AI needs to be a little faster though. I did a high 54.1 sec lap
last night, and even at 120%, Schumacher is still five seconds slower.

Detune your car a little bit to make the AI faster.  :)

P.S. Is there a reason for the apparent lack of TV camera views at Laguna Seca?

I have no idea why the cameras at LS don't work.

The AI is fast everywhere at RA except at the exit of turn 3, and through 4
and 5.

They're pretty easy to out-brake into T6 as well.

Don't use the brake and it'll be more exciting.  Hehe

Out of interest, I went back to SCGT to see what lap times were like in the
GT1's. In the Porsche GT1 in fully tricked-out state, I did a 52.6, versus a
53.6 in F1 2000. Hmmm... are the full-bodied sports racers really supposed
to be faster than F1, or are the bonuses provided by adding parts
unrealistic? I wonder what kind of laps times were the real GT1's turning???

run the cars with just the full Aero tweeks, full suspension and full
gearbox.  The starting horsepower figures are close to real world
already.  By adding the extra horsepower, and weight reductions you are
creating a super racer not getting a subpar car up to spec.
Probably the best way to check times would be to go to the ALMS or the
Petite Le Mans site and see if they have lap times from  last year's
Petite Le Mans 1000.

Unzip it into your F1_2000\season00\tracks\ROADATLANTA directory.  Good
luck & happy racing!

At the www.petitelemans.com site, qualifying for the 1998 edition of the
race was headed up by a Porsche 911 GT1 with a lap time of 1:13.754. For the
1999 race, when the LMP-type cars took over, the fastest qualifier was a
Panoz at 1:10.873 followed by a BMW V12 at 1:11.269.

So I guess those well-under-one-minute laps in SCGT are a trifle optimistic
<g>.

What a great track though - maybe some day I can attend a driving school or
club lapping session there...
