Should I Buy Nascar99????

by KBetter » Fri, 05 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I have nascar2 and i have all the "aftermarket" tracks, 98 cars and trucks, and
my own 99 cars,  Is there really that much added to nascar1999 that i should go
and take out  something that works fine, or should i just wait for nascar3 ?  I
understand there is a deal where if u send them another game you get a refund
on the purchase price? is this true.  I dont really know if its worth it to go
through the hassle of trying to get everything to work again with 99,  anyhelp
would be appreciated

I found, after buying N1999, that there is not enough difference to N2,
FOR ME, to bother running it. Especially as I will have to upgrade my
computer again to run the same frame rates and smoothness in N199 that i
get in N2.  I have N1999 loaded but run N2 exclusively. I too have the
BGN tracks etc.

Of course, if you want to run trucks with the new algorithms, you have
to get N1999.

It's really subjective. I am going to wait for N3 and upgrade my
computer to handle it over the coming six months, but ahead of Jan 1
2000 when I understand that hardware could be in short supply due to Y2K
problems in the so-called 'underdeveloped' countries!

The 3Dfx patch is more tightly integrated now.  You can have 64 tracks
instead of only 32 (though I understand NRHQ can work around that problem).
The AI is MUCH improved (they don't have as much tendancy to drive through
you in the corners) - 98% in NR99 is about 102% in N2.  Double-file restarts
are better.  You can share cars and tracks with NR99 and N2...
If you DON'T have a 3Dfx card and if you're not happy with the
framerates (there IS higher hardware requirements in NR99) then stay where
you are!

Is the CALENDAR limited to only 32 events, tho'? I made a calendar with
EVERY track (45 I think) and at Talladega, it had the right race, but the
track was Atlanta (last track in a normal calendar) -- I took some out, and
it fixed it -- is there a limitation on the calendar or should it be able to
handle more....?

It wouldn't load the N2 tracks (Wilkesboro, original SearsPoint, Atlanta) I
got a "couldn't load complete track description" how do you get around this?
