No.. it is based on the Nascar Racing 2 game engine.. (it's actually an
updated N2 with many other functions).

You will need to wait until Q2 of 99 for a Stock-car simulation with the GPL
game engine (Nascar Racing 3).

I can't remember where I read that.. (I think it was on the Sim-racing.com
board where David Matson posted a couple of times), that people will be able
to install the normal DOS version for those people with less than 32mb.

It was something like that (not the exact words). Probably similar to CART
Racing with both versions on the CD-Rom... But I like the N2?  as the name
for it ;-D

Sorry if this is a naive question, been out of the
loop for a while.

Is the upcoming Nascar99 going to have the
superior physics engine (i.e. 3-dimensional
movement, feel, etc.) as GPL

Thanks, Hank

no. nascar 1999 will have the 1997 winston schedule and cars, also the
craftsman trucks. Nascar 2000 due summer of next year will have the GPL
physics.

Official name "NASCAR Racing 1999" (unofficial name NASCAR 2.5).  The
answer is no, this is just a "dressed up" version of N2, with new tracks
(old tracks brought up to 1998 changes), trucks, double-file restarts,
improved 3DFX support, and a "native Win9x" interface.  Haven't heard
yet whether it will still support pure DOS for those that can't afford
the hit of running through Win9x.

Code name NASCAR 2000 (schedule for 2nd Quarter 1999 -- though my guess
is about this time next year) will be the sim based on the GPL physics
engine.
