I wonder if our converted converted converted Indy tracks will work with N99? I
understand that licensing problems prevent Daytona from being released (as well
I guess a true Indy) but a 2 1/2 mile tri-oval should not be protected.  It
would be nice to see a track that matches Daytona's specs called the "Ho-ho-kus
Speedway" be released as a Fantasy Track.  Of course if the specs of Daytona
are protected and cannot be duplicated then of course I understand.

It just seems that an AWEFUL lot of work is put into these NASCAR products to
simulate the Winston, BGN, and now Truck series that some sort of "work around"
can be done.  Michael Jordan's name cannot be used in some basketball
simulations but there is a player on the Bulls Roster that resembles him and
the player's stats can be adjusted.

Hey, I didn't want to open up a can of worms that we've all flamed to death
over the years in this newsgroup but I think since N1 was released there has
been plenty of time to provide a suitable work-around.

Yes... many people think you can just do a "Florida Speedway" with a 2.5mile
track and with bogus graphics. Even that will probably won't cut it over a
judge.

Track copyriting are mostly about the track name, appearence, similarity,
etc...

At least... if they really wanted to get Indianapolis Motor Speedway into
the game, they would just need to license Ontario Motor Speedway hehe ;-D

Still... it's just Daytona. Papyrus did 2 incredebly-well sellers titles
without the track. Nascar Racing 2 is AFAIK still the best selling title
from the whole Cendant company. So adding Daytona is probably not enough
rewarding for the additional sellings that you would have. It's probably
really expensive for the oval track license...

We can't compare it to ***'s Sports Car sim who has Daytona, since it's
only the DIS road course.

;-D  Have fun making a dejanews.com search for "Daytona license" or
something similar !

I *think* that the blueprints are a matter of public record.  Anyone
should beable to go down to city hall a buy a set.  If Papy wanted to,
they could do exactly what you've suggested.

It's been suggested before, but as you see - here we sit with nothing
resembling Daytona or Indy.

And who owns Daytona International Speedway? And who runs Nascar?

See a problem here?

I think Papy allready did Daytona for the N2 engine...BUT!!!  The only place
you can play the track is at Daytona USA.  I think you run on the track by
yourself, and try to post the fastest time of the day......But, the track does
exist, we just can't have it thanks to SEGA, and a poor marketing decision by
Daytona
