Need help with hosting N3 races...

I have been having some problems when hosting internet races in N3.
At first, everything is fine, people are connecting to me, we are all
practicing, then for no apparent reason the game will lock.
Ctrl+Alt+Del won't even work.  I need to reset the machine.

Does anybody know of an online guide somewhere that tells you what
settings to use when hosting an online race?

One setting that I don't know how to set is the starting field size.
Currently, I set the number of online players to 10, and the starting
field size to 10.  Does the starting field size matter?

I'm connected to the internet through a DSL connection, so I don't
think speed should be an issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would suggest getting the latest beta patch for multiplayer at
