** Rally Championship 99 Interview **

Hey fellas. We've just posted our interview with Richard Vanner, the
executive producer on the Rally Championship 99 team. This is a very long
and in-depth read, covering just about everything so make sure to grab a
drink :) Please post your feedback regarding the interview, as we are
interested as to what die hard racers think. Thanks!

Thanks !

Points to remember, as Im somehow falling into the vaporware here and I
trust them that they can indeed make more than just eye-candy, but a
realistic Rally simulator...

1) 3d sound.. EAX and A3D I guess ? yay!
2) It said the game engine is new, so let's pray it's better in the whole
physics department (ex: off-road excursions = 99% of the time a crash in
real life Rallying).
3) They did an online feedback forum ? HELLO ? where did we saw that ? Why
aren't they enough intelligent to just ask people on r.a.s. instead ? Waste
of development time  :(
4) 420miles of track from what I see... not that bad, I think CMR had about
the same, so it's quite good for replayability. Im happy... as always more
is better, the ultimate would be to ship with editors!
5) 20 cars.. but that means 20different car models, or just like there's
4Megane and 3Subaru ?
6) Nice 3d stuff... but it's NOT WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW.  Every game now in
development is always hyping their 3d... we need more than just that..
3dgraphics is vaporware for us in r.a.s. :)
7) It still seems to have the "walls of glass" syndrome.  He said it's not
like that anymore, but the producer only mentioned for cones and hay bails.
Doh that's not enough.. when you hit a tree normally your Rally is OVER most
of the time..
8) They say no specifics.. so why did we had ones about that before ? I
remember reading somewhere (like simracingnews.com) that a P-450 would be a
correct PC. Who's saying the truth here ?

Nice interview, still ! ;-D

np :)

I'm sure that's what he was talking about

You would think they would come here first. More feedback here, than
anywhere else.

I'll try to get a word on an editor. I know it's shipping with a car editor.

Let's hope it's not vaporware man. This game looks so great that it would be
a shame
for it to not be a true sim. I couldn't see them releasing something subpar
physics wise after putting in all that time for the graphics.

I'd have to agree <g>

With graphics like we've seen, I would presume that the game would require
some
very hefty toys. Again, we'll have to wait for some beta code to test this.

thanks!
