Boardville -- a new board track for Spirit Of Heat

The Boardville, U.S.A. board track (wooden oval) for the Spirit Of
Heat mod is now available for download and testing. Boardville is a
fictitious high-banked 1/4-mile oval board track, representative of
some of the board tracks that were scattered througout the U.S. in the
1930s (yes, these were oval tracks made of wood). This add-on track is
based on Andy Garton's "Bankville" dirt track (thanks Andy!), and
you'll find that the boards are just about as slick as dirt, so give
your tires time to warm up before you stand on it. Click on the image
above to download. Now it's Miller time for real!

Follow the "Add-On Tracks" link from the Spirit Of Heat website on the
BHMS server:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

It's about a 1.6 MB download with a self-installer utility. The AI
should be competitive with the SoH mod -- have fun!

BTW, I forgot to list this on the site when I first uploaded the
track:

NOTE: There is a known issue with this track regarding qualifying --
if you attempt to do a qualifying session, Heat will crash. This is
because there are no pits, so there can be no qualifying. Things work
fine as long as you don't try to qualify and simply start the race
from last place (consider it more of a challenge). From a realism
standpoint, short tracks like Boardville often use short "heat" races
to determine the starting order for the "feature" event, rather than a
1- or 2-lap qualifying run, so the lack of a qualifying run shouldn't
really detract from the overall realism.

This wooden oval looks very good. :-) Very unusual surface... What's the
level of grip there? (Can't try it since I don't have Nascar Heat yet)
I ordered NH from a US website so that I can try Spirit of Heat! Impossible
to find the game in France...
cheers,
Cyrille

How many tracks CAN nascar heat hold, before having to use the track-swapper
utility, John?
